My Cancer Journey – By Chantal Jacobs 💙

On 10 October 2024, my life changed forever when I heard the words no one ever wants to hear: “You have cancer.”

Before that day, I was living like any other person – busy with my family, enjoying time with friends, and chasing dreams for the future. Never in my wildest imagination did I think I would sit in a doctor’s office and be told: “You have six months to live.”

In that moment, fear, shock, and disbelief washed over me. But my heart immediately said: “Only God decides when my time is up – not cancer.” I knew I had to fight with everything in me – not just for myself, but for my two young daughters and my loving husband.

This journey has been anything but easy. I have endured chemotherapy, surgery, immense pain, and the daily challenges of living with a colostomy bag. There have been moments where giving up seemed easier – but my faith has carried me through. My faith is my anchor, and my family and friends remind me daily that I am not walking this road alone.

Cancer has taught me to treasure life in ways I never did before. Every sunrise is a blessing, every moment with my children is a gift, and every breath is a reminder that I am still here, still fighting.

Now, a new opportunity for hope has opened: treatment at Hope for Cancer in Mexico. This specialized program offers a chance to continue my fight with holistic, advanced therapies that are not available to me here in South Africa. The costs, however, are overwhelming, and that is why I am humbly reaching out for your support.

Through the Save Chantal Jacobs NPC, my dream extends beyond my own healing – I want to create a ripple of hope, helping others gain access to life-saving treatments, medication, and emotional support. Together, we can turn pain into purpose, and despair into healing.

💙 I am asking you to stand with me in this fight. With your prayers, love, and contributions, you will not only help me reach Mexico for my treatment, but also help me keep inspiring others on this difficult road. 💙

Hope for 1000

Alone, this goal feels impossible. But if 1,000 of us each give R1,000, we’ll raise the R1,000,000 needed for Chantal’s treatment. Your kindness can be the difference. Together, We Are Stronger.

Why treatment abroad

Although some alternative treatments are available in SA, it is important to understand the precific gene of ones carcinoma. Unfortunately my KRAS Gene Histopathology test tested positive for the Q61H mutation gene.

* The KRAS Q61H mutation is an oncogenic mutation found in colorectal cancers that causes continuous signaling in the MAPK pathway, leading to tumor growth. This mutation impairs the KRAS protein’s ability to hydrolyze GTP and results in a state of constitutive activation, meaning it does not respond to normal regulatory signals. This leads to poor prognosis and makes cancer cells resistant to certain targeted therapies, such as those targeting SHP2.
